Hundreds of years ago nomadic herders camped at a fountain while crossing the mountains to the plains. Inevitably they dropped pumkin (pampoen) seeds which proliferated giving the area its name.
The farm, two hours from Cape Town, has five fully equipped self-catering cottages for hire. They are tastefully furnished and supplied with bed linen (100% percale cotton), towels, coffee and tea, and each has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwashing and cleaning material. Each cottage has an indoor fire place for winter (it snows on the farm from time to time!) and an outside braai area. For the summertime two cottages have private swimming pools and there is both a communal pool and a pristine dam for general use.
